Having watched many other movies about the life of Jesus Christ - some of which have been more relatable, reliably biblical, and more enjoyable to us than others - my wife and I were not too excited about yet another production about Jesus. However, we were hooked since the first episode!

The Chosen is now in its third season, and we have had the enjoyment of sharing it with many people. Read more about our opportunity to be extras in the filming of the Feeding of the 5,000 episode in Midlothian, Texas.

My summer in Jerusalem

In the summer of 1980, I had the opportunity to go to school in Jerusalem at what is now called Jerusalem University College (then the American Institute for Holy Land Studies), where I studied and traveled the land of to learn about its natural and anthropological history, geography, and biblical history.

So when I watch The Chosen, which has been filmed on movie sets in Utah and Texas, I am looking for differences and similarities from the biblical sites in Israel. In my opinion, the producers of The Chosen have done a phenomenal job at creating scenes true to the geographical settings found in Israel.

The Chosen recently built an authentic first-century biblical village set that is the size of two football fields, a 30,000-square foot soundstage and other facilities to accommodate four more seasons of The Chosen and possibly other future productions.
